Concrete Paving Supervisor

The City of Rowlett is looking for an experienced Concrete Paving Supervisor to lead our concrete paving operations and help maintain and improve the infrastructure that serves our residents every day. From sidewalks and curbs to streets and drainage improvements, you'll play a key role in building and maintaining the foundation of our growing city.
What You'll Do:
As our Concrete Paving Supervisor, you'll be the boots-on-the-ground leader responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing concrete paving projects from start to finish.
You'll:
  • Lead and supervise paving crews and daily operations.
  • Coordinate concrete paving activities including form setting, pouring, leveling, finishing, and quality control.
  • Interpret plans, specifications, and blueprints to ensure projects are completed correctly.
  • Ensure projects stay on schedule, within budget, and meet City standards.
  • Promote and enforce a strong culture of safety.
  • Train, mentor, and develop crew members.
  • Coordinate materials, equipment, and resources needed for successful project delivery.
  • Respond to citizen concerns and work collaboratively with City departments.
  • Inspect completed work and ensure quality workmanship on every project.

You are a hands-on leader who isn't afraid to jump in when needed. You have a strong understanding of concrete construction, enjoy leading teams, and take pride in delivering quality work that improves your community.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the construction and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, curbs, alleys, drainage systems, or related infrastructure.
  • At least one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

Bonus Points If You Have:
  • Knowledge of TMUTCD and IMSA standards.
  • Experience with pavement assessment and asset management systems.
  • Experience working in municipal public works operations.
  • Strong understanding of drainage systems, bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and related infrastructure.

What You Should Know:
  • Valid Texas driver's license required.
  • Must maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Availability for emergency callouts, nights, weekends, and weather-related events is required.
  • Position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and push, pull, or drag up to 150 pounds.
  • Ability to climb, kneel, squat, bend, crawl, and perform physically demanding work.
