City of Rowlett, Texas
This is NOT your typical “sit behind a desk” job
This is:
- Splash zones.
- Game days.
- Whistles blowing.
- Music playing.
- Kids laughing.
- Adults competing like it’s the championship.
And YOU? You’re the one making it all happen.
The Mission (aka Your Playground)
You’re running the show at the Wet Zone Waterpark AND leading citywide athletic programs.
Think:
- Waterpark operations + pool chemistry on point.
- Leagues, tournaments, and community sports.
- Events that people actually get excited about.
- Marketing programs so they fill up FAST.
- Hiring, leading, and motivating a high-energy team.
Basically…You’re part operations leader, part event producer, part coach, part hype squad.
What You’ll Actually Be Doing:
- Running daily operations of a full-on waterpark.
- Building and managing athletic leagues (youth + adult).
- Hiring and leading seasonal + part-time staff.
- Creating events people talk about after they leave.
- Keeping programs organized, scheduled, and fully staffed.
- Managing budgets, registrations, and program data.
- Partnering with schools, community groups, and local orgs.
- Making sure everything is safe, compliant, and FUN.
Yes—you’ll be busy. But it’s the kind of busy that flies by because you love it.
What Makes This Job Awesome:
- You’re not stuck inside all day.
- Every day is different.
- You directly impact the community.
- You get to build programs from the ground up.
- You lead a team that brings ENERGY.
- You literally create fun for a living.
What We’re Looking For: Someone who:
- Can run operations and bring the vibe.
- Knows athletics, recreation, or aquatics inside and out.
- Can lead a team (especially younger/seasonal staff).
- Is organized, but not boring about it.
- Can juggle a million things without dropping the ball.
- Isn’t afraid of weekends, events, or a little chaos.
Bonus points if you:
- Have aquatics experience (pool ops, lifeguards, etc.).
- Have worked in parks & rec, sports, or community programming.
- Can go from spreadsheets → whistle → crowd control seamlessly.
The Basics (aka the fine print, but still important):
- Bachelor’s degree (Parks & Rec, Business, Public Admin, or related).
- 2+ years in a supervisory/management role.
- CPR/First Aid (or ability to get it).
- Will obtain:
- CPO/AFO (pool certification).
- Lifeguard Instructor.
- CPRP (within 12 months).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work evenings/weekends (because… events!).
Real Talk: This job is:
- Fast-paced.
- People-heavy.
- Sometimes chaotic.
- Outside in the Texas heat.
But if you love:
- Community impact.
- Sports + aquatics.
- Leading teams.
- Creating experiences.
You’re going to LOVE this job.
Bottom Line:
If you want a job where:
- You sit in meetings all day.
- You do the same thing every day.
This isn’t it.
But if you want:
- Energy.
- Leadership.
- Community impact.
- And a job that’s actually FUN.
This is your spot.
