The City of Rowlett is looking for an Assistant Director of Public Works who can lead, build, and drive the infrastructure that supports a high-growth community. From streets and drainage to utilities, fleet, and capital projects—this role sits at the center of it all.
You won’t just oversee operations—you’ll help define what’s next.
What You’ll Be Part Of:
This isn’t a behind-the-desk leadership role—you’ll be in the mix, partnering across the city to move projects forward and improve how we serve our community:
- Lead and support operations across multiple Public Works divisions.
- Drive infrastructure and capital improvement projects from planning to execution.
- Oversee budgets, contracts, and resource allocation.
- Develop and mentor teams while building strong operational culture.
- Partner with City leadership, engineers, contractors, and the community.
- Help shape long-term infrastructure planning and resilience efforts.

What You Bring:
- 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in public works, construction, or infrastructure.
- Strong leadership experience (you’ve led teams and delivered results).
- Experience with budgets, capital projects, and operational strategy.
- Ability to navigate complex projects, priorities, and stakeholders.
- Municipal experience preferred.
